UPTET is an annual, state-level eligibility test, conducted by Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) for recruitment of Primary and Secondary teachers in government and various public schools in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
- UPTET 2019 official notification is expected to be released in the month of August 2019.

UPTET 2019: Exam Dates
Since the official notification for UPTET 2019 has not been released yet, a structured tentative event calendar has been prepared for the same which is based on previous years’ trends. Interested applicants are advised to follow the official website for further updates on the exam.
UPTET 2019: Eligibility
Below is the given detail of the eligibility of primary (1st to 5th standards) as well as secondary teachers (6th to 8th standards).
- UPTET applicants should be Indian Citizens.
- Age criteria for both positions are minimum 18 years and maximum 35 years (age relaxation for reserved category candidates as per government norms).
- The basic educational requirement for UPTET is a UGC recognized bachelor’s degree (B. Ed, D. Ed, BTC, etc.) with a minimum aggregate score of 50% marks in the qualifying exam.
The specific educational qualifications required for the Primary as well Secondary Teaching positions are listed below:
Primary teachers (1st to 5th standard)
- Applicants should have secured a minimum aggregate score of 50% marks in the Intermediate Examination.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's Degree, or
- Applicants who have either completed or are studying in the 2nd year of BTC/BTC (Urdu) from an institute affiliated to NCTE, or
- Applicants who are studying in the final year of D. Ed (Specialization) from an RCI recognized institute, or
- Applicants who have completed or are in the final year of Diploma in Teaching from Aligarh Muslim University, or
- Applicants in the final year B.EL.ED.
UPTET Secondary Teachers (6th to 8th standards)
- Applicants should have secured a minimum aggregate score of 50% marks in the Intermediate Examination.
- Applicants with a bachelor’s or master’s Degree in graduation with a minimum aggregate score of 50% marks, or
- Applicants who have either completed or are studying in the 2nd year of BTC/L. T/B. Ed from an institute affiliated to NCTE, or
- Applicants who are studying in the final year of B. Ed (Specialization) from an RCI recognized institute, or
- Applicants who have completed or are in the final year of B.Sc. Ed./ B.EL.ED.
Important Note:
- Reservation conditions in UPTET will be applicable as per GOI norms.
- There are no restrictions on the number of attempts a candidate can make in qualifying UPTET

UPTET 2019: Application Form
UPTET 2019 Application process can be completed only in the online mode through the official website of UPBEB. The Application Forms are expected to be available from August 2019 onwards. The steps involved in the application process are listed below:
- Visit the official website of UPBEB (www.upbasiceduboard.gov.in) and register with complete details as specified in the form.
- Applicants should mandatorily mention the district from where they want to appear for the exam, select photo ID proof, and enter the ID number in the UPTET Application Form.
- Upload applicant’s recent passport size photograph and specimen signature as per the specifications in the Application form.
- Applicants seeking reservation are also required to upload supporting documents to the form.
- Pay the requisite Application Fees via online or offline mode.
- Review the details entered in the form to ensure it is error-free before submitting the same finally.
- Upon submission, a system-generated registration number and password will be displayed on-screen.
- Applicants can log in to the website with the auto-generated login credentials and access the application form they submitted. It is advisable to obtain prints of the completed Application Form for the records.
Please note that the candidate can apply for both Primary and Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test by filling two separate UPTET Application Forms.
Note: Candidates must ensure to carry in person the Photo ID Proof selected in the Application Form at the time of UPTET Exam. Candidates not carrying the same will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
UPTET 2019: Application Fee
The UPTET 2019 Application fee can be paid in both offline and online modes.
- Applicants can make the application fee payment online through the integrated payment gateway on the official website using either Net Banking or Credit/Debit Cards.
- For offline Application Fee Payment, applicants need to obtain a print of the e-challan from the website and make payment at any State Bank of India branch. Applicants then need to enter the details stamped on the challan to the UPTET online application form on the official website to complete the application process.

UPTET 2019: Admit Card
UPTET 2019 Admit Card is expected to be available for download from the official website in the month of October 2019. Applicants who have submitted the UPTET 2019 Application Form complete in all respect along with the requisite fees will be issued UPTET Admit Card. The same must be downloaded from the official website. Please note that there are no other means of accessing the document other than downloading from the website.
Details like Applicant’s name, Registration Number, Photograph, Date of Birth, Exam Venue, Exam Date, and Timings, etc. will be printed on the Admit Card. It is mandatory for the candidates to carry the Admit Card in person to appear for the entrance exam along with a valid Photo ID Proof.
UPTET 2019 Admit Card can be downloaded in the following steps:

- Click the link “UPTET 2019 Admit Card”.
- Enter applicants’ login credentials i.e. the registration number and password.
- The UPTET Admit Card will be displayed on-screen.

Any discrepancy noted on the Admit Card should immediately be brought to the notice of the exam conducting body.
UPTET 2019: Exam Pattern
UPTET Exam Pattern has been the same in the last few years. Objective type multiple - choice questions are asked in a paper-based test to evaluate the teaching aptitude of candidates.

UPTET 2019: Syllabus
UPBEB clearly defines the Syllabus for UPTET, the details of which are elaborated below:
- Syllabus for UPTET Paper 1 covers Teaching Methodology & Pedagogy, Languages (Hindi & English/Urdu/Sanskrit), Mathematics and Environmental Studies.
- The paper focuses on the educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to Standards 1st to 5th.
- Candidates are expected to understand the characteristics and needs of diverse learners and exhibit the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator for learning.
- NCERT Books for 1st to 5th standards can be referred to for better understanding of the scope of UPTET Paper 1.
- The Language Section would assess the skills of the candidates in the medium of instruction while the Mathematics and Environmental Sciences section will test candidates’ conceptual understanding of the subjects.
- The syllabus for UPTET Paper 2 encompasses Child Development, Learning & Pedagogy, Languages (Hindi & English/Urdu/Sanskrit), Mathematics & Science or Social Studies & Social Science.
- The paper focuses on the educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to Standards 6th to 8th.
- Candidates can choose between the sections of Mathematics & Science or Social Studies & Social Sciences.
- NCERT Books for 6th to 8th standards can be referred to for better understanding of the scope of UPTET Paper 2.
UPTET 2019: Result
UPTET 2019 result will be declared tentatively in April 2020 on the official website by UPBEB. UPBEB will also release the notification for UPTET Result in the major newspapers of Uttar Pradesh. Candidate can access their result through individual login into the official website in the following steps:
- Visit www.upbasiceduboard.gov.in
- Click on the tab ‘UPTET 2019 Result’.
- Enter the candidate’s login credentials i.e. the registration number and password.
- The candidate’s UPTET Result will be displayed on-screen.
- Download, save and obtain prints of the document for future use.
Candidates also have the option of procuring a copy of their UPTET Answer Sheet by paying a fee of INR 500 per copy (through a DD in favor of “The Secretary, Examination Controller Officer” payable at Allahabad).
UPTET Answer Keys are expected to be released by UPBEB in January 2020. Based on the Answer Keys, candidates can draw an estimate of their expected score in the UPTET Results.
The candidates need to secure a minimum score of 60% in UPTET 2019 to qualify as a primary/secondary teacher (55% in case of reserved category candidates). Candidates will be awarded the UPTET eligibility certificate, valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
UPTET 2019: Cut-off
The cut-off score for the UPTET merit list will depend on the highest score clocked by candidates in UPTET 2019, over and above the pre-decided minimum qualifying marks. The cut-off score will be listed district wise on separate merit lists.
Apart from the highest score of the current year, the other factors that would be considered in finalizing UPTET 2019 Cut-off score are:
- Total number of applicants,
- Previous years’ cut-off trend, and finally,
- The difficulty level of the test

UPTET 2019: Selection Process
- Candidates are required to secure a minimum of 60% in UPTET 2019 (55% for reserved category) to qualify the eligibility test.
- Successful candidates will be awarded the UPTET Eligibility Certificate valid for 5 years from the date of issue and will be offered teaching positions as per merit in affiliated schools in the State.
